Holiday Wishes

I’m poking my head back into the blogging world, briefly, to say I hope you are enjoying this holiday season with friends and family.

I’m taking a much needed break from all that is work-related (although this blog hardly seems like work at all!) to focus on my kiddies and my hubby. We’re enjoying the unstructured time and openness of the holiday vacation.

I’m enjoying having my husband around more than usual (he’s getting some much needed things done around the house), baking, reading and playing with kids, and reflecting on the past year. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. My life is full, I have health, freedom to do as I choose, and I live in a country where we enjoy great liberty.

On another note, I’m excited for the upcoming year, where great things are on the horizon. It’s a great time to be alive! So much to do, to experience, to learn, to grow in new ways.

As for this blog, stay tuned. I’ll resurface again after the beginning of the new year to resume regular posting. I’ll share with you my struggle with weight gain (10 pounds! who knew?!) and ensuing journey to recommit to awareness of why, when, and what I’m eating. It’s been a humbling, learning experience to have to lose weight outside the context of post-pregnancy weight loss. For all those people who over the years who’ve said to me, “oh you’re just ‘naturally’ thin, I don’t have the metabolism you do,” or “you’re thin because you exercise so much,” I’m hear to say, NOT TRUE. If I can be thin, anyone can, because I AM NOT a naturally thin person. I have to work (hard) at it. There’s nothing special about me. As I’ve said before, I don’t have superhuman self-control or will power. In the words of Glenn Beck, “I’m a fat person inside a thin person’s body.” And as recent experience has shown, if I’m not careful, I will easily and effortlessly gain weight. So. More on that when I return.

Also, to start out the new year, another real vegan momma interview, a new added feature to the blog where I’ll have a guest blogger share her journey towards transitioning to a plant-based diet and weight loss in 90 days with weekly posts, as well as some excellent book giveaways.

In the interim, wishing you a relaxing, memorable holiday season…
